Sometimes referred to as Crinodonna, this fabulous hybrid between Amaryllis and Crinum produces large soft pink, funnel-shaped blooms with a delicious fragrance. Flowering from late summer through to October, Amarcrinum ‘Howardii’ makes a wonderful tropical statement in beds, borders or patio containers. Unlike its parents, Amarcrinum retains its large, glossy strap-shaped leaves while flowering and remains semi-evergreen throughout winter. Hardy to -5°C, Amarcrinum memoria-corsii will happily over-winter outdoors in well-drained soil or alternatively grow in containers which can be brought under cover. Height: 80cm (31″). Spread: 20cm (8″). Supplied as bulbs.

Grow Amarcrinum bulbs in patio containers or sheltered borders in a fertile, light, well-drained soil in full sun. Plant the bulbs with the nose of the bulb just below soil level. If planting Amarcrinum bulbs in containers use a loam based compost such as John Innes No.2 with added grit to improve drainage. Caution: Harmful if eaten.

Feed Amarcrinum plants monthly and water well during spring and summer. Amarcrinum lilies are hardy to -5°C and will happily over-winter outdoors in well-drained soil. In periods of prolonged frost, cover the foliage with a layer of horticultural fleece. Move patio containers to a bright, cool but frost-free position over winter, keeping the compost almost dry. Amarcrinum bulbs resent disturbance so only move when necessary.
