Evergreen Azalea ‘Geisha Orange’ is a compact and slow-growing garden shrub. With lush glossy foliage and clusters of vibrant, reddish orange flowers throughout late spring. It thrives on acid soil – if your borders aren’t acidic you can still enjoy it by planting in ericaceous compost in a large pot and always watering with rain water, best collected in a water butt. Height and spread: 80cm (2’7″). Supplied in a 2 litre pot.

Rhododendron plants require an acid soil. If you don’t have acid soil, simply plant them in patio containers. When growing Rhododendron in patio containers, use a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Repot the plant at its original soil level and firm well into the new container. Water well and position in dappled or semi shade. Alternatively, if you are gardening on acid soil, plant Rhododendron directly into borders in a sheltered, shaded position in moist, well drained soil.
Water regularly throughout the growing season. Where possible, use rainwater as the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. Feed regularly with fertiliser for acid-loving plants. Protect plants from cold winter winds. Border grown Rhododendrons will appreciate an autumn mulch to protect their shallow roots from winter cold. Take care not to mound the mulch too close to the stem as this may cause it to rot. Rhododendrons require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Lightly trim stems if necessary in June.
