These two hydrangea macrophylla varieties are strong stemmed, hardy shrubs with a neat, compact growth habit – perfect for garden borders or patio containers. Try them either side of a path or dooway for an impressive display.

‘Red Frills’ has white flowers with deep red margins, whilst ‘White Frills’ has frilly edged white flowers edged with soft pink.

Hydrangeas are easy to grow, and will perform well in both sunny and shady position. They also make excellent cut flowers for indoor dsiplays.

Ready to plant now to establish over winter ready for flowering next year. Height and spread: 1 to 1.2 metres.

Supplied as mature, 6.5cm in diameter plugs which can planted straight into the border or containers.

Hydrangea Frilled Collection prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Alternatively plant Hydrangea Frilled Collection in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.

Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded Hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. After pruning Hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: Contact with Hydrangea foliage may irritate the skin and eyes and all parts are harmful if eaten.
