An array of fruity coloured flowers in single and semi-double form appear in sprays, atop short slender stems throughout summer. Lewisia cotyledon ‘Regenbogen’ is considered one of the best mixes available of this hardy evergreen perennial. Perfect for patio pots, rock gardens and wall crevices, Lewisia can also be grouped in borders provided they are given some protection from winter wet. These colourful perennials are drought-tolerant once established. Height: 25cm (10″). Spread: 30cm (12″).

Grow Lewisia in full sun on any neutral to acid, well drained soil. Lewisia particularly dislikes wet conditions. On heavier soils, incorporate plenty of grit to improve drainage, prior to planting.
Feed and water Lewisia plants regularly throughout summer. Deadhead faded Lewisia flowers frequently to encourage more blooms to be produced. Lewisia plants can be overwintered if protected from winter wet. This can be achieved by placing a piece of glass or plastic over the crown of the plant, raised on bricks or similar. Alternatively lift plants and keep them dry in a cold greenhouse.
