Lush green foliage dies back in summer and makes way for the shooting stems of the Guernsey Lily. The flowers then explode into life from October and well-past the fireworks season, offering a welcome dose of bright colour in garden borders and planters. Our collection brings you an array of the colours that Nerine bowdenii provides, from pure white of Nerine bowdenii ‘Alba’ through to the deep, dramatic pink of Nerine bowdenii ‘Isabel’. Height: 45cm (18″). Spread: 8cm (3″).

Plant bulbs in spring. Choose a sunny position in sandy, free draining soil. Nerine bulbs require shallow planting depths; plant them with the pointed tip protruding just above the soil surface. Nerines are particularly suited to containers as they thrive when clumps become congested. When planting Nerines in containers use a loam based compost such as John Innes No.2 and position in full sun.
Water freely while bulbs are in active growth. During dormant periods, keep compost just moist. After flowering, feed bulbs with a low nitrogen fertilizer. In winter, apply dry mulch, such as straw, to outdoor grown Nerines to protect them from hard frosts. Move container grown plants to a warm dry position. Nerines may be slow to flower in the first year or two but don’t be tempted to move them – your patience will be rewarded!
