The glorious royal purple, bell-shaped flowers of Penstemon ‘Pensham Westminster Belle’ make a sumptuous and remarkably long-lasting summer display. In flower tirelessly from June to September, ‘Pensham Westminster Belle’ attracts a constant steam of bees with its nectar-rich blooms. Bred to withstand lower temperatures and changeable summer weather, Pensham Penstemons perform particularly well in UK gardens. These semi-evergreen, hardy perennials are ideal for adding long-lasting colour to the herbaceous borders. Height: 75cm (30″). Spread: 60cm (24″).

Penstemon plants dislike cold, wet soils in winter. Plant them in a well drained site, adding compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay soils. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade.
Feed and water Penstemon plants regularly until they are fully established. Cut back faded Penstemon flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure around the crown of each plant in autumn or spring. Avoid pruning back old foliage until spring arrives, as this will help to protect the plant during winter.
